Technical overview

The FGC-GH images a prepared fiber end face under darkfield and transmitted illumination at 525 nm and derives core and cladding diameters, non-circularity and core-to-cladding concentricity. An ultra-high numerical aperture optical system and high-magnification objectives resolve the nested tube structures of NANF and DNANF hollow core fiber, and a software plug-in architecture supplies fiber-type-specific routines so results are automatic and user-independent. Measurement takes under 25 seconds in standard mode or under 150 seconds in enhanced performance mode, excluding fiber preparation. It also supports multi-core fiber core location and concentricity work, and high-precision characterisation of standard singlemode fiber.
