CSP FiberShear Direct Connect

A controlled shear point splice enclosure for roadside cabinets that lets a fiber drop cable break away cleanly at the cabinet base during an impact, protecting the buried cable and the cabinet equipment ports.

CSP FiberShear Direct Connect

Technical overview

CSP replaces conventional patch cords with a direct-connect outdoor-rated fiber fan-out, removing secondary maintenance and failure-point connections inside the cabinet. CEL states the arrangement reduces circuit loss by as much as half a dB. Drop cables are supplied in 50-foot increments in 2, 4, 6 or 12 fiber configurations with pre-installed drops for splicing the interconnect in the CSP splice chamber, plus a mid-span access module for converting existing cabinets without disabling the fiber circuit. CEL contrasts this with a single fiber jumper, whose pull tension it says can range inconsistently between 15 and 200 pounds. The device is described as patent pending and made in the USA.

Features

  • Guarantees a stress-free breakaway in the event of a traffic incident
  • Rapid restoration with a single fixed and preconfigured emergency splice chamber
  • Eliminates patch cords, redundant maintenance and additional failure points
  • Easy installation with multiple mounting options
  • Mid-span access module converts existing cabinets without disabling the fiber circuit
  • All-in-one delivery package reduces warehouse inventory
  • Patent pending, made in the USA
