S-band amplifier (TDFA, Bench Top)

A bench-top thulium-doped fluoride fiber amplifier covering the S-band from 1460 to 1520 nm, including a gain-flattened model and a polarisation-maintaining model. FiberLabs describes it as the only S-band fiber amplifier on the market.

Technical overview

The AMP-FL8211-SB series covers 1460 to 1500 nm (1480 nm nominal) and the AMP-FL8221-SB / 8222-SB-PM series covers 1470 to 1520 nm (1490 nm nominal). Output power grades run from >= +13 dBm to >= +20 dBm with gain from >= 15 dB to >= 30 dB and noise figure <= 7 dB across the range. The AMP-FL8221-SB-19-W adds <= 3 dB gain flatness for S-band DWDM, and the AMP-FL8222-SB-18-PM uses PM1550 fiber with >= 20 dB polarisation extinction ratio.
